Department of Physical Education and Sports

The Physical Education and Sports Teaching Program trains qualified Physical Education and Sports Teachers that our country needs in the field of sports.

With the decision taken at the meeting of the Higher Education Council General Assembly on 05.01.2012, in accordance with the 7/d-2 and 7/4 articles of the Law No. 2547, the student admission to the Physical Education and Sports Teaching Program, which continues education and training within the Faculty of Education of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, has been stopped and the statuses of the existing students have been protected and transferred to the School of Physical Education and Sports Directorate and started education and training from the 2012-2013 Academic Year. Finally, it was transferred to the Faculty of Sports Sciences with the Presidential Decree No. 968 published in the Official Gazette dated 18.04.2019 and numbered 30749.
 

Placement is made to the program as a result of YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam), according to the success order of the Y-TYT score determined in the relevant year, by conducting a Special Talent Exam in our Faculty.

Activity Areas

Graduates can work in pre-school, primary, secondary education institutions and equivalent schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, central and provincial organization of the Directorate of Youth and Sports, in the education and applications of sports activities for the disabled, in the organization and applications of activities in our social life under the name of healthy living. The program includes courses and applications within the scope of General Culture, Sports Field Knowledge and Teaching Profession Knowledge.
